Welcome Parents!

A letter to parents from Tanya Tsikanovsky, Director of Jewish Student Life

 Dear Parents!

Welcome to the Hillel at the University of Hartford family! At the University of Hartford, we have a vibrant and active Hillel that offers students the opportunity to engage in a variety of Jewish social, cultural, religious and educational programs. The University of Hartford is proud to be the home of nearly 1500 Jewish undergraduates; Jewish students make up 33% of our student body!

We hope to be able to provide your students with a variety of opportunities to engage in meaningful Jewish experiences during their time at the University of Hartford. Some of Hartford Hillel’s programming highlights from the 2011-2012 academic year included Promakkah, a semi-formal Hanukkah dinner dance; Torah on Tap, a Jewish educational learning series that brings together students and rabbis from various denominations to discuss Jewish life issues relevant to college students; a concert with the Jewish musical group Bible Raps, and weekly Shabbat services and dinner. Additionally, we sponsor a full week of events, known as FYSH (First Year Students of Hillel) Week, to kick off the year and introduce new students to Hillel at the University of Hartford.
