Student Board 2008
Student President — Elyse Miller
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Elyse Miller is a junior studying Child Psychology and Education. Growing up Elyse was extremely active in B'nai Birth Youth Organization(BBYO). She served on chapter board and Atlanta council board. She is very involved in the West Hartford and Manchester communities. Elyse teaches Herbrew School three days a week and is the USY Manchester advisor. Elyse is excited to serve as Hillel president for the 2007-2008 year. Elyse would like to welcome you to the University of Hartford Hillel- there is not a better time to be a part of Hillel!
Membership VP — Alex Katz
Alexander Katz is a sophomore here at the University of Hartford and cannot wait to begin his second semester as Membership VP and meet all of the incoming freshmen. Hailing from Morristown, New Jersey, Alex is pursing a bachelor's degree in Music, studying in the Hart School, hoping to one day have a job as a college professor after many years of schooling. He has many wonderful ideas to bring to Hillel and knows that this will be an amazing semester for all.
Shabbat VP — Xani Pollakoff
Xani Pollakoff is from a north suburb of Chicago called Highland Park. She is currently a sophomore majoring in Elementary and Special Education and Judaic Studies. Xani has been attending OSRUI (Olin-Sang-Ruby-Union Institute), a Union of Reform Judaism, summer camp in Oconomowoc, WI for ten summers and was very involved in NFTY during high school. She is also a Youth group advisor at Kol Haverim in Glastonbury. Xani is the Shabbat VP for Hillel this term and loves our Hartford Hillel Shabbat Services and dinners. Xani cannot wait to meet you!
Financial VP — Jason Krane
Jason is serving as your 2008 Financial Vice President. Jason is a sophomore in the School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Communications, with a double emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising. Being involved in Jewish youth programs has been something that Jason enjoyed, and he looks forward to being a Hillel leader and making sure you guys are having a good time!Jason was an active member of USY in Hagalil region. jason can't wait to meet all of you and expects and excellent year!
First Year Student of Hillel Advisor — Adam Kozol
Adam Kozol is from beautiful Sharon, Massachusetts. Adam is a former member of USY & NFTY. He is wicked excited to meet all of the incoming freshman, and is looking forward to a great year.
First Year Student of Hillel Advisor — Eric Penchansky
Eric Penchansky of Manchester, New Hampshire is on the the FYSH Advisors for the Hillel Board. Eric enjoys long walks on the beach, fine dinning, and of course the privilege of working with his fellow board members to ensure another enjoyable and yet successful year in Hillel. While in high school, Eric served as president for his youth group and as a representative in NFTY Northeast. As a freshmen at theUniversity of Hartford, Eric has become an active member of Hillel and hopes to encourage others from his grade to get involved. Eric is excited for another fantastic year with Hillel!!!
Tikkun Olam- Traci Budman
Traci is a freshman from Dresher, PA. She is a psychology major. She was the social action chair for Philly BBYO for 3 years before coming to the University of Hartford. She says, "BBYO really helped me become a great leader and gave me many ideas for Hillel to use, that I cannot wait to share with all of you."
