Engagement Associate - Hartford Hillel

Description of the Hartford Hillel Foundation
The Hartford Hillel Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3), which is based on the University of Hartford. Hartford Hillel serves both the University of Hartford and Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). This position will serve students at the University of Hartford campus only. Here at Hillel we are committed to creating and nurturing a vibrant, pluralistic Jewish community that will enable students to express themselves and make them feel at home.
General Description of Engagement Associate Position
Hartford Hillel is looking for an Engagement Associate. The Engagement Associate will be involved in many areas of Hillel programming, specifically programs targeted at uninvolved/under-involved students. The Engagement Associate will be responsible for helping to ensure vibrant Jewish life on campus through program initiation and facilitation, leadership development, and personal contact with Jewish students. During the academic year, this position requires working primarily in the evenings (3-4 per week), on some weekends (2-3 per month), and Jewish holidays.
Description of Engagement Associate Position
Assist Program Director in identifying uninvolved student populations and develop strategies for contacting and serving them
Work with the Program Director to assess programming needs and develop new, innovative programming to meet those needs
Support student-initiated programs; attend most programs (including evenings, weekends, Jewish holidays)
Recruit students for Taglit—Birthright Israel: Hillel trip
Assist the Program Director in recruiting student leaders to build and sustain a community
Interact with students one-on-one as a mentor and counselor
Reach out to uninvolved students through personal calls, activities outside the Hillel Campus Center, tabling on campus, bulletin board, flyers, brochures, etc.

Required Qualifications
BA/BS degree
Ability and willingness to work evenings (3-4 per week), weekends (approx. 2-3 per month) and Jewish holidays during the academic year
Extensive knowledge of Judaism and Jewish life
Computer skills per requirements of job
